It's not all bad news...

NORTHUMBERLAND County Councillor Guy Renner-Thompson's concern (Journal, last Monday) that the new Tenants Rights bill will lead to private landlords turning their properties into much more profitable holiday lets is commendable.

However our area has very few landlords left. We went through a period of owners evicting their longstanding tenants so tourists could sleep in their children’s bedrooms. Coun Renner-Thompson worked hard to find accommodation for those made homeless.

Unfortunately, once again, many families were left with no choice but to move away. The Renters Rights Act will hopefully prevent this happening to others.
