Heed new boy is ready to get going
The Journal
|January 17, 2026
GATESHEAD new boy Sam Bowen is relishing the opportunity to show what he can offer as he prepares to make his debut in today’s home game with Rochdale.
-
Heed boss Rob Elliot continued to boost his squad in a bid to avoid relegation from the National League when he completed the signing of the former Cardiff City and Newport midfielder on an 18-month contract.
Bowen will bring National League experience after spending the last 18 months with Solihull Moors and he made 40 appearances for Wealdstone during the 2023/24 season.
Elliot's possession-based style of play was a major factor in Bowen's decision to move to the North East and he said: “I am really excited, I had my first session and the boys look like they are raring to go for a big second half of the season.
“It was really good speaking to Rob, he made the move a lot easier and sold the club to me.
“He expects a massive second half of the season and hopefully we can get out of the relegation zone.
