Golf complex proposal given the green light

PLANS for a £40m golf and leisure complex on the vacant site formerly home to Newcastle Brown Ale have been given the go-ahead.
Councillors unanimously approved Topgolf Uk’s proposals to redevelop Dunston’s former Federation Brewery site into a multi-storey, 102-golf bay facility.
Reported benefits of the scheme, planning documents claim, include a £40m investment into the Lancaster Road site and projected visitor numbers of 450,000 a year.
Topgolf also predicts the scheme will bring in £150m-£250m over 10 years.
