Filtronic lands new satellite-earth communications contract

RADIO frequency (RF) and microwave tech innovator Filtronic has secured a new contract to supply a European Space Agency (ESA) initiative. The County Durham firm will provide feeder link technology as part of the joint “direct-to-device” (D2D) project with global communications firm Viasat.

Filtronic engineers will work with Viasat to identify requirements of the next-generation satellite network.
In an update to shareholders on the London Stock Exchange, Filtronic said the contract falls under ESA's Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems - a research and development programme.
