Figures show shocking obesity level across city

FEARS have been voiced over a looming "tsunami of ill health" connected to "stark" obesity levels for both youngsters and grownups in Sunderland.

The matter was put into the spotlight at the most recent meeting of Sunderland's Health and Wellbeing Board earlier this month while discussing broader citywide health figures.
A briefing to the panel highlighted the elevated numbers of Wearside residents who were carrying excess weight or were obese throughout 2023/24.
