Drivers warned as bridge will close for repairs

RIVERS are being warned as the Redheugh Bridge will be shut for 12 hours on Sunday to allow for an inspection and repairs.
The closure, between 6am and 6pm, is needed to allow for the first phase of the bridge's principle inspection.
The shutdown will also allows for repair works to a damaged section of the bridge parapet system and the cleaning of the drainage system ahead of autumn and winter.
A signed diversion will be in place, diverting traffic via the A167 Tyne Bridge. Motorists are also advised to use the A695 Scotswood Bridge or the A1.
Gateshead Council also advises trav-ellers to allow extra time for journeys.
