Driver jailed after he ran over police officer's foot

A ROAD menace ran over a police officer's foot as he tried to stop him driving with a flat tyre after causing another officer to leap into a hedge.

David Burdis carried out a series of offences within a few hours, during which he threatened to smash a car into his family home.

Newcastle Crown Court heard it was around lunchtime on November 15 last year that Burdis, who had only been out of prison for 17 days, got into a verbal altercation with his wife when she wouldn't let him in and he left in a Nissan Qashqai.
