NORDI Mukiele was part of another huge defensive performance for Sunderland as the French defender helped the team keep a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
His defensive counterpart Omar Alderete was the match-winner, scoring a first-half header to earn three points at the City Ground.
Reflecting on their first away win of the season, Mukiele told safc.com: “It was a really good game from our side. We take our first three points away and I'mreally happy.
“We suffered a lot but we defended very well all together. We scored the first goal and we managed to keep the result.”
The 27-year-old has quickly become a favourite amongst the fanbase with his combative displays and his attempts to ramp up the noise from the crowd.
The defender added: “I just love when they sing. I'm like a kid when I see them screaming. I love it, it’s like a gift to us. This really helps us.
“Twill always say thank you. We did a really good job and T hope this is a good present for them. I hope they get back safe and they will see us for the next game in Manchester [away to United].”
Meanwhile, Régis Le Bris hailed the team’s resilience and discipline after their first Premier League away win, praising hard work, defensive solidity, and leadership.
