'Baffling' performance is slated as Heed struggle

GATESHEAD’S slump in form continued with a ‘baffling’ performance in their 3-0 home defeat against the National League's surprise package Boreham Wood.

Last season's National League South playoff winners grabbed the lead with just five minutes on the clock at the International Stadium with a rising effort from Zak Brunt.

The Heed’s hopes of claiming something appeared to have been boosted when the visitors were reduced to ten men ten minutes before halftime when Joe Newton was dismissed for a foul on Kain Adom.

However, it was the visitors that grabbed the next goal of the game and went a long way to landing all three points when Brunt doubled his tally with quarter of an hour remaining.

Former Heed midfielder Regan Booty rubbed salt into the wounds of his old club when he grabbed the visitors’ third goal of the day with a remarkable effort from the halfway line.
