£55m man and insists: 'Better things are to come from him'

Howe feels that criticism of £55million man Anthony Elanga has been too hasty in the first half of the season.The winger, who signed from Nottingham Forest in the summer, has only shown flashes of the magic he produced at the City Ground and is yet to score for the Magpies.

Elanga has managed just one Premier League assist and laid on one for a teammate in the Champions League, but Howe believes he will bring much more to the table in 2026.

Elanga sliced open the Chelsea defence with the score at 2-2 on Saturday, but elected to shoot rather than pick out a teammate at the Gallowgate End.
