UNP thanks all those who rallied around Ranil

The UNP yesterday (27) expressed its gratitude to political parties, professional groups, religious institutions and individuals across the country who stood in solidarity with former President Ranil Wickremesinghe following his arrest and remand.

Addressing the media at Wickremesinghe’s political office at Flower Road, Colombo, UNP Chairman and former Minister Vajira Abeywardena said all political parties, the legal community, and the medical profession had come forward to defend Wickremesinghe.
“His doctors remained in the court premises without food or water, saying they would be the ones to sign his bail. They finally did so. Therefore, on behalf of our party, we extend our deepest respect and gratitude to all Sri Lankans who pledged their solidarity with our leaders,” Abeywardena said.
