Mahanama, Royal record big wins to book semi-final berths

Mahanama College and Royal College reached the semifinals of the Under 19 Division I Tier A cricket tournament with convincing victories in the quarterfinal matches played on Wednesday.

Sharith Sudeena excelled with all round performances for De Mazenod to seal semi final berth in the Tier B tournament.

While the two Colombo schools beat their opponents from Moratuwa by big margins in the Tier A tournament, Devapathiraja put up a combined effort to pull off an exciting three runs victory against Dharmaraja in one of the three Tier B quarterfinals played on Wednesday.

A century by Kashyapa Dissanayake was in vain for Dharmaraja as Devapathiraja kept their favourites tag intact to advance to the semifinals.

The day's most exciting all-round performance was recorded by Sharith Sudeena, who took four wickets for De Mazenod before hammering 87 runs (in 57 balls) inclusive of six fours and six sixes to set the stage for their eight wickets victory against St. Thomas' Matara at Uyanwatta.

St. Anne's were the winners of the other Tier B quarter final.
