Learning from each other: India and Sri Lanka's shared lessons for progress

With the Sri Lankan Prime Minister's recently concluded visit to India, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the relationship between the two nations. India and Sri Lanka have always shared more than geography.

Their histories have been intertwined through trade, faith, migration, and language for centuries. Yet, in modern times, the relationship has often been viewed through a narrow lens: a smaller island nation next to a giant neighbour. In truth, each has something profound to teach the other. Both are vibrant democracies, diverse societies, and resilient economies whose experiences hold mirror images of what can go right and what can go wrong - in the journey of a South Asian nation seeking to improve the lives of its residents.
