Concern over teacher-pupil ratio data

Teacher-pupil ratios are below the Scottish average
The pupil-teacher ratio for North Ayrshire is below the Scottish average, Cabinet member for Education Shaun Macaulay has revealed, amidst concerns from a Labour opponent that the figures were "skewed".
And a number of Irvine schools fail to meet the target.
Irvine Labour cllr Nairn Angus-McDonald asked cllr Macaulay to provide North Ayrshire Council's School Level Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) including the number of qualified teachers who are centrally employed and included in the PTR calculation.
Cllr Macaulay told the full council meeting: "Based on 2024 census data, the pupil-teacher ratio for North Ayrshire is 12.4. This compares favourably against the PTR for Scotland which is 13.3.
