Government funding aims to 'revitalise' communites in region

Ayrshire neighbourhoods are in line to receive a £43 million boost from Pride in Place funding.
East, North and South Ayrshire Councils have been allocated funding by the UK Government aimed at revitalising communities as part of the Plan for Change.
Both North and South Ayrshire will benefit from £20 million over the next 10 years as part of the Pride in Place programme while £1.5 million from the Pride in Place Impact Fund has been allocated to East and North Ayrshire over two years.
Up to £280 million will be shared among 12 Scottish local authorities through the Pride in Place programme which the UK Government say will target areas which can benefit most from funding being made available for a wide range of regeneration projects.
It is hoped the funds will revitalise high streets and town centres, preserve local heritage, provide housing, create jobs, boost productivity and skills, improve health and well-being, create new transport links, provide education and opportunity and improve safety and security.
