Gisele Pelicot’s ex-husband questioned over cold cases

Pelicot is serving a 20-year prison term after he was found guilty in December of the horrific sexual abuse of his now ex-wife.

Pelicot's lawyer said that his client was due to be questioned yesterday by an investigating magistrate who specialises in socalled cold cases – those that have proved particularly hard to resolve.

The rape and murder cases that Pelicot was questioned about date back to the 1990s. One involves Sophie Narme, a property agent who was killed in Paris on 4 December 1991. The other is the attempted armed rape in the Paris suburb of Villeparisis, on 11 May 1999, of another woman with a similar profile.

'Dim Philby'? No, Witkoff is actually a skilled negotiator

If anyone has had more negative press than Donald Trump in the latest flurry of US efforts to end the war in Ukraine, it is Steve Witkoff, the man he appointed his special envoy at the very start of his second term. One Western critic even dubbed him “Dim Philby”. But the knives have been out for Witkoff in Washington pretty much from the start, and the charge sheet against him is long.
