MORE THAN JUST SPORT ON OFFER WITH ROLE IN REHABILITATION AND HEALTH

- By JOHN GREENWOOD

CALDERDALE'S leisure centres will increasingly become more than somewhere just offering sports services, also playing a key role in helping people stay healthy and aid recovery from illness.

Senior councillors approved a new strategy which will see centres - including the new one being built at North Bridge, Halifax - welcome more people than ever, they hope.

That includes people who might not have considered using the centres - Calderdale leisure centres open currently include those at Brighouse, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden and might even have been a bit intimidated by them.
