Plan to replace some, but not all, lost anti-terrorism funding

MONEY to partially replace lost national anti-terrorism funding will form part of council budget proposals in Calderdale next year.

The borough has already seen its funding for the programme cut by almost half to £126,249.72 in 2025-26 and it will be removed entirely after March 31 next year, councillors heard.

The Government has cut the funding as Calderdale has dropped out of the top 20 local authorities in terms of the level of risk.

But scrutiny councillors were recently told risk in Calderdale has not reduced - Director of Public Services, Ian Day, and Prevent and West Yorkshire Police officers warned the borough could take no comfort in this.
