MAY DAY! STRIKER FEELS HEAT

Alfie May celebrates a goal for Town

HUDDERSFIELD Town forward Alfie May admits he puts ‘so much pressure’ on himself to be a match winner whenever he takes to the pitch.

The attacker was recruited by the Terriers this summer off the back of some impressive campaigns, with the 32-year-old netting 92 goals in all competitions across the past four seasons.

The striker played an important role in Birmingham City’s title-winning campaign last term, featuring 57 times and scoring 17 goals to help his former side secure promotion to the Championship.

Asked at a press conference earlier this week whether he had something to prove upon his return to League One this season, May, who featured as a late substitute in Wednesday's Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City, said: “I always put so much pressure on myself.

“It's not a single sport, I’m not going to win a game on my own, but I feel like that I should be.

“My wife is always on to me, and she’s always said that I put too much pressure on myself, but I go into every game wanting to score three goals, to assist three goals.
