Jailed for knife attack on stranger

A WANTED man has been jailed for 19 months for stabbing a stranger in a Halifax pub.

Back in May, West Yorkshire Police put out an appeal for information about 23-year-old Davey McDonagh a few days after he had knifed his victim in the stomach in the Courtyard pub.

Bradford Crown Court heard on Monday how the incident, which lasted seconds, was captured on CCTV footage and the injured man was left feeling terrified that he was going to die.

The court heard McDonagh, of Eton Street, Halifax, was originally charged with wounding the complainant with intent to do him grievous bodily harm following his arrest in July, but at a crown court hearing in August his guilty plea to inflicting GBH was accepted by the prosecution. He also admitted possessing the knife in a public place.
