COUNCIL PLEDGE AFTER COMPLAINTS AIRED AT MEETING

- By ABIGAIL MARLOW

ASSURANCE has been given over the future of Huddersfield bus station, after serious concerns over its condition were raised at a council meeting.

The station is the subject of a £27m refurbishment scheme by Kirklees Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority, which has been hit by delays.

The new-look station was originally expected to be finished by the end of 2025. But with initial planning permission only granted in February of that year, this never came to fruition.

Another application was then submitted by the council in June featuring some amendments to "optimise" costs and environmental impact.

The current plan, which has now been approved, has a reduced canopy. This will come with a green 'living roof'.
