THREE of the city’s laureates will be taking part in this year’s Plymouth Performance Weekend, which starts next Saturday.
-
Current Laureate of Words Rosemarie Corlett and Young City Laureate Frankie Baldry will showcase their work as a taster to the Plymouth Poetry Festival, happening later this year.
Mimi Jones, a previous Plymouth Young City Laureate will be chairing the session, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Saturday, May 24, and speaking about the upcoming festival.
The festival takes place on May 24-25, at the House, at the University of Plymouth. A spokesperson for the festival said: “Following the successful showcase of work by local artists in 2024, this two-day festival returns.
“Over the weekend, there will be eight shows by local artists involving theatre, comedy, music and performance - with something for everyone.
“Expect wild true stories and fantastic folk tales, home grown poetry and cracking comedy, drums, food, movement, music and much more.
“Support home grown talent in a state-of-the-art performance space and book your tickets now.”
Plymouth Performance Weekend is curated and produced by Plymouth Performance and supported by The Bridge at the University of Plymouth.
