Tavistock aim to kick on from their Devon Bowl win

TAVISTOCK picked up a morale boosting win ahead of their Southern League Division One South clash with Bashley tomorrow by progressing to the quarterfinals of the St Luke’s Devon Bowl with a penalty shootout win over Bideford at Langsford Park.
After the two teams battled out a 1-1 draw - former Barnstaple striker Brad Williams equalising for the Lambs - Tavi nailed all five of their spot kicks and progressed after Jack Winsor blazed his effort over the crossbar.
Victory ends a run of four games without a win for Stuart Henderson’s side, which included a 2-0 home defeat to the Robins on October 14. Now, he hopes to build on the success by taking it into the league campaign, starting with the clash against fellow strugglers Bashley.
“We played a different shape tonight and we had to do that because we were without quite a few of our lads and we had to play (Jack) Crago at centre half - and he did really well” Henderson said. “I thought, just a few seconds before their goal, that we were coping well, but matey has cut inside and scored with a good finish.
