LANDING BEACH ESTABLISHED IN ALBANIA
ARMY Reservists from Plymouth and across the South West have been taking part in a major maritime logistical training exercise in southern Albania.
The exercise – code-named Ex Austere Wolf – was part of the overarching Operation Chelonia, which saw British forces operating in the western Balkans.
Ex Austere Wolf landed an entire Theatre Enablement Group (TEG) of 104 Theatre Sustainment Brigade onto a beach in Albania.
A TEG is the logistical base that enables a manoeuvring fighting force to project forward. It includes vehicle and equipment support and repair, field medical provision, field catering, ammunition supply, and even a specialist mobile laundry and shower unit than provides for the field hospital.
Equipment was brought from the UK aboard the MoD’s 13,500 tonne roll-on, roll-off vessel, Hartland Point.
