Nursery wins praise for 'nurturing atmosphere'

A NURSERY where “children feel safe and secure” and “enjoy their time” has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for its nurturing atmosphere and well-planned curriculum.

Nomony Nursery, based at St John's Children's Centre on St John's Road in Plymouth, received a 'Good' rating across all areas in its latest Ofsted inspection, which took place on Friday, April 25.

The setting, which caters for 121 children aged one to four, was commended for the strong relationships between staff and children, engaging learning activities, and positive behaviour support.

Inspectors found that “children enjoy their time at the nursery. When they enter, they find their name on their coat pegs and hang up their belongings independently. Staff welcome children warmly, and children settle well. They have formed close relationships with staff.”

In the baby and toddler rooms, young children were seen spontaneously sitting on staff members' laps or reaching out to them for comfort. Older children were equally confident in approaching staff to share their needs, with the report noting: “Staff respond effectively. Children feel safe and secure.”

Nomony Nursery, which registered in 2017 and is managed by KCP Keystone CIC, provides full day care from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, all year round.

The nursery has 18 members of staff, including three with level 6 qualifications, and another three qualified at level 5.
