Muxanga beat Asinia Byfield on a split decision to win the Silver Commonwealth super-welterweight title at the Brentwood Centre in Essex on Sunday.

Despite being in his first 10-round contest - and facing a vastly more experienced opponent - Muxanga is said to have dominated the rounds against 25-fight veteran Byfield, and win a verdict despite being docked a point in the ninth round for use of the head.

The title contest was streamed live on the DAZN platform, but also created headline news in Muxanga's home country of Mozambique.

Daniel Chapo, President of Mozambique, even offered his congratulations to the boxer via his official X account, saying: "We congratulate Mozambican boxer Tiago Muxanga for winning the Commonwealth Silver title in the super-welterweight category.

"This achievement projects Mozambique onto the international professional boxing stage.

"This victory is the result of dedication, discipline, and a spirit of sacrifice.
