MOSS RETRAINS STAFF AS DAYS OF FITTED GARMENTS RETURN

- By MALCOLM BASSETT-SMITH

Made-to-measure on its way back to high street

A HIGH street tailoring brand with a store in Plymouth has hailed the return of made-to-measure style for men, with staff being retrained to be able to offer bespoke garments from measurement to final fitting.

Moss - formerly Moss Bros - has a store on New George Street in the city centre, and is remembered by some for being the crème de la crème of high street tailoring, with a price premium that went with it.

In the 1990s the switch was made towards youth fashion and with it many of the standards that went hand-in-glove with high end tailoring disappeared.

But manager Sally Thomas said the good old days are back, and as of this month, Moss are bringing back the tape measure, personal service and a wider selection of upper end English and Italian cloth to dress a more discerning gentleman.
