Factory brings in 4-day week - with no pay cut

The engineering company, which has a huge factory at Langage in Plympton, said the move is designed to support workers' wellbeing, improve their work-life balance, and foster long-term growth.

Staff will work reduced hours over four days, with full pay and benefits, while a coordinated rota system will make sure production, support, and service remain seamless Monday to Friday.

David Rowe, managing director, said the move reflects Applied Automation's commitment to its core values of investing in people, embracing innovation, and taking responsibility for building a future-focused workplace.

He said: "This is a progressive step for Applied Automation and one that reflects our belief that a happy, healthy team delivers the best results."
