Gardeners put the finishing touches to the golden arch

(NATIONAL TRUST STEVEN HAYWOOD)

GARDENERS at a National Trust property on the upper reaches of the River Tamar have marked a bumper daffodil crop by crafting a golden archway leading into its historic house.

The weekend of March 14-16 marks the height of the daffodil season at Cotehele, with hundreds of heritage varieties revealing thousands of golden flowers in the historic gardens.

The property boasts a precious daffodil collection which each year turns the gardens into a blaze of gold, with more than 300 varieties of the flower - including 200-year-old heirloom varieties.
