Cosgrove had no doubts about League One switch
The Herald
|September 06, 2022
SAM Cosgrove had no qualms about dropping down a level to League One with Plymouth Argyle in completing a season-long loan move from Championship club Birmingham City.
Cosgrove joined the Pilgrims just hours before the summer transfer window closed last Thursday and made a dream debut as he scored twice as a substitute in a superb 3-2 come-from-behind win away to Derby County.
The 25-year-old had endured a difficult 18 months after signing from Birmingham for a reported £1.5 million from Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.
He has not got a goal for the Blues in 15 games - although only two of those appearances have been starts - and netted only three times in 37 matches during loan spells in League One last season, first with Shrewsbury Town and then AFC Wimbledon.
Cosgrove said: "I think the word frustration is the main one that pops up. Obviously, I had that dream move down to Birmingham and it has not quite worked out for me.
