Bakery to bring back convenience store

THE owner of one of Plymouth's most successful bakeries is “beyond excited” to be giving a community its convenience store back. Yield Bakery has been trading successfully at Plympton’s Ridgeway for nearly 20 years and now it is taking over the closed down convenience store in Plymbridge Road with big plans that are expected to delight locals.

The store closed in October last year, shortly after the Post Office inside it shut. But Stacey Millard, owner of Yield, has just collected the keys to the empty unit and said: “It’s exciting. We are aiming to open in June. It will be called Plymbridge Stores.”

She said the idea is to run it as a convenience store, with all the essential items you'd expect in such an outlet, but also bring in the bakery products Yield has become famous for. Mrs Millard said: “There was a convenience store there - and we are going to bring it back as a community store.
