Argyle praised for keeping the faith with Wayne Rooney
The Herald
|November 02, 2024
WHILE the outlook remains uncertain for Wayne Rooney amid Plymouth Argyle's onfield inconsistencies, former Pilgrims stopper Graham Stack is confident the club is making good decisions at all levels.
Argyle are in the midst of a three-match winless run, after coming from three goals down to sensationally draw 3-3 with Preston last time out. Rooney was in the stands when his side lost 5-0 at Cardiff City one week prior, with a 1-0 defeat at Millwall sandwiched in between. The run has left Argyle sitting 21st in the Championship and staring at a potential dog fight for survival already ahead of today's visit to Leeds.
But former Arsenal and Wolves goalkeeper Stack - who made six appearances for Plymouth and was relegated on loan at Leeds in 2007 - is keeping the faith. Although his one-year stay at Home Park ended under contentious circumstances, the 43-year-old has only positive things to say about the club and its chances of success under the England and Manchester United icon.
