Argyle cruise to comfortable win over Robins at Home Park

PLYMOUTH Argyle Women produced a dominant display at Home Park to secure a comfortable 3-0 FAWNL Southern Premier Division victory over Cheltenham Town, though the scoreline could have been even more emphatic.

The Greens created a host of chances throughout the contest, striking the woodwork multiple times and forcing Cheltenham goalkeeper Poppy Irvine into a series of impressive saves.

Olivia Francis eventually broke the deadlock just before halftime, before second half goals from Ellie Noble and substitute Paris Dalton ensured Argyle's superiority was reflected on the scoreboard.

Dalton said the performance capped a positive afternoon for the squad. She said: "Yeah, great afternoon. Buzzing to get the goal, obviously. Three points, clean sheet, 3-0. Good day."

Despite moments of frustration in front of goal, Argyle controlled large spells of the match and restricted the visitors to very few clear opportunities. Cheltenham's task became even harder late on when Casi Evans was sent-off after receiving a second yellow card.

With three goals, a clean sheet and an abundance of chances created, it was another strong afternoon for Argyle in front of the Home Park crowd.

Argyle started brightly and almost took the lead inside the opening minutes. A corner delivered into the box found Layla Proctor free at the back post, but her header crashed against the post before Cheltenham managed to clear the danger.
