Politics PM'S allies Dodds and Ashworth make the list

Two of Keir Starmer’s closest allies have been named in the new year honours list.
Anneliese Dodds, who was the development minister until her resignation in February, becomes a dame and Jonathan Ashworth, who headed the thinktank Labour Together, was made a CBE.
One of Starmer’s oldest parliamentary allies, Dodds was appointed shadow chancellor when he was elected Labour leader in April 2020.
Starmer replaced her with Rachel Reeves in May 2021 after a crushing by-election defeat in Hartlepool.
In government, Dodds served as development and equalities minister, but quit in February over plans to cut international aid to fund an increase in defence spending. She has been the MP for Oxford East since 2017.
