Lost rare astrolabe from 16th century returns to Isles of Scilly home

The astrolabe was found in about 1990 in the wreck of a Spanish ship

Finally, after making a 35-year journey around the globe, the Pednathise Head astrolabe - a rare example of a 16th-century navigational instrument - is back at home.

After being sold and leaving the UK after its discovery in 1990 it passed through private collections in Australia and the US. Its true identity was forgotten along the way, before it ended up in a museum in Florida.
