Tigers pounce to dent Bears' play-off hopes

CHAMPIONSHIP-chasing Glasgow became the first side to win at Redcar's ECCO Arena this season, so puncturing the home side's recently rising playoff hopes.

The result seemed rather predictable after the Bears lost the potential services of former favourite Lewis Kerr as a guest for the still ill Erik Riss, due to domestic issues and were then denied the use of Tobias Thomsen for SGP2 in Riga-bound Jake Mulford, through a technicality with the new August averages.

The absence of Tigers' Dan Thompson, also on global under-21 championship duty also in Latvia, was less traumatic as the visitors arrived with four effective 'heatleaders' as cover, including evergreen now 42-year old number one Chris Harris.

The former British Grand Prix winner and triple British champion led the way with 14+3 but it was Leon Flint and Villads Nagel, on his first ever visit to Teesside, who impressed the most.
