Serious injury at care home led to inspection

CQC RULES THAT FACILITY 'REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT'

A TEESSIDE care home's inspection was prompted by a resident sustaining a serious injury.

The incident at Mandale Care Home is subject to further investigation by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as to whether any regulatory action should be taken.

Inspectors say information regarding the incident, which involved a person using the service, “indicated potential concerns about the management of risk of falls from height”.

A CQC report from the April assessment added: “At this assessment we found the service was not always identifying risk and taking appropriate action.

“There was a lack of robust record keeping and effective oversight from the management and provider and a breach of regulation 17 was found.”

The care home - on Acklam Road in Thornaby - has been rated as “requires improvement” overall.

The service has been rated “requires improvement” in safe and well-led categories.
