'HE'S GOT SUCH A KIND HEART - I'M SO PROUD OF HIM'
A MIDDLESBROUGH schoolboy has netted almost £1,000 in fundraising to help his mum's best friend fulfil her final wishes.
John Roberts is only 12 but set up a charity football game all off his own back, organising every last detail. The Middlesbrough lad had felt compelled to help his godmother, Donna Bointon, after she was told she had just a year to live.
The football fundraiser was held at the Dormans Club with teams consisting of John's schoolmates and pals from his football club. Speaking after the match, Donna told The Gazette she was bursting with pride for her godson.
"He's such a thoughtful boy," she said. "He's got such a kind heart for a little boy and I'm so proud of him."
