Rangers could turn to former boss boss
The Gazette
|October 14, 2025
MICHAEL Carrick is said to be under consideration for the vacant Rangers job, in what would be his first manager's role since leaving Middlesbrough in June.
-
Rangers are on the hunt for a new head coach after sacking Russell Martin.
The former Southampton boss lasted only 17 games at Ibrox before the axe fell, with Rangers sitting eighth in the Scottish Premiership table after just one win from their opening seven games.
The Glasgow giants had made Steven Gerrard their top candidate for the role, but talks over a return to Ibrox for the Liverpool legend broke down over the weekend.
As such, Rangers are back to considering other candidates, and are said to have a preference to have a new boss in place by the weekend when they return to action.
