Probe as 20-year-old injured in gang attack

AN investigation is under way after a 20-year-old was attacked in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police were called to Tennyson Avenue and Birchington Avenue in Grangetown where the man had been assaulted and suffered lacerations to his face and legs.
The area has been cordoned off and CID officers were spotted carrying out door to door enquiries.
A witness told The Gazette about what she heard overnight.
She said she heard “very loud” shouting and crying which woke her up at around 1am and then it went quiet.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Police are currently in Tennyson Avenue and Birchington Avenue in Grangetown after our officers responded to a call from ambulance service colleagues shortly before midnight.
“They were reporting that a man had been attacked by unknown suspects.
