‘SHOCKED’ ANDREW HONOURED FOR HIS POSITIVE IMPACT IN END-OF-LIFE CARE

- By NAOMI CORRIGAN

National recognition for lecturer's caring project

A LECTURER’S “meaningful” approach to teaching students about end-of-life care has seen him recognised with a national award.

Andrew Johnson, health and social care lecturer at Redcar and Cleveland College, came up with the idea of creating comfort and care packages for people receiving end-of-life and palliative care.

The project thrived with donations flooding in from fellow students, colleagues, friends, family and the surrounding community.

Care packages included items such as hand lotions, lip balms, blankets and personal care products, along with photo frames, candles and crystal angels.
