Kelly ready to get back in the saddle
The Gazette
|July 18, 2025
ELLIOT Kelly has done almost as many laps as anyone at the ECCO Arena during the past decade yet amazingly only makes his semiprofessional debut for local club Middlesbrough Tigers tomorrow afternoon when they entertain National Development League leaders Oxford (3pm start).
While Redcar Bears continue their tussle for honours in the higher tier Championship with a tough match at Glasgow tonight, their 'junior' counterparts have made two team changes in their bid to pull away from the lower reaches of the NDL.
Kelly, now 21, began his racing on shale as a schoolboy and, despite competing at 'third division' level for Mildenhall, Armadale (Edinburgh) and most recently Workington, has never appeared for a Teesside team other than in mini-second halves for the Northern Junior League Redcar Cubs.
