Industrial units given the go ahead

PLANNING AGENT ARGUED THAT PROBLEMS WITH PROSTITUTION IN THE AREA WOULD BE ADDRESSED BY APPROVING THE PLANS
SIX industrial units have been given the go-ahead in Middlesbrough, having been previously rejected.
Councillors who sit on Middlesbrough's planning and development committee approved the retrospective plans on Thursday, July 3.
Members of the committee were told by the planning agent that by approving the plans, it would help to combat flytipping and antisocial behaviour.
Councillors were in agreement that the plans in front of them at committee were an improvement on what they had rejected previously.
Middlesbrough Council officer Shelly Pearman explained that the application was seeking retrospective permission for six industrial units, as well as associated parking and the demolition of existing buildings on the site.
The land in question is located on Emmerson Street, on the corner of Stonehouse Street.
Ms Pearman explained that it is part-retrospective as development has started on site.
There was a previous application on the site that came to the planning committee, requesting six industrial units, which was refused by councillors and then dismissed at appeal.
