MUM DETERMINED TO BEAT CANCER
A BRAVE mum is refusing to give up her fight after being told she has stage four cancer.
Harriet Lawler was just weeks away from giving birth to her daughter, Nellie, when she found a small lump, which was initially put down to being pregnancy related.
But, a few weeks later when she discovered another lump in her breast it was confirmed she had breast cancer.
Just 10 days later Nellie, now aged 22 months, was born, and 10 days after that Harriet started chemotherapy treatment. She underwent lumpectomy surgery and it was thought she was cancer free.
However, in September, last year, Harriet, a former pupil at King’s Manor School, found another lump in her armpit.
She said medics were convinced it wasn’t cancer, but following investigation she was given the devastating blow the cancer had spread to her lungs and is stage four. The 35-year-old said: “It is the worst thing you can hear, that there is no cure, just treatable.”
