Dietitian helping cancer patients lands top award
The Gazette
|July 19, 2025
A NORTH Tees Hospital dietitian has picked up a national prize for her work in helping cancer patients with their eating.
Chloe McMurray has been seconded to a unique role at the hospital trust. The specialist hepato-pancreatobiliary (HPB) dietitian is currently working as Personalised Cancer Care Prehabilitation Lead at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
She helps to support patients with their food, ensuring they can enjoy it as much as possible to boost their quality of life.
Chloe's work has now earned her a top honour in the prestigious 2025 Dr Falk-Pharma/Guts UK national awards, the Dietitian Recognition Prize.
She said: “In January 2020, a project was launched to introduce a Specialist HPB Dietitian to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and then to assess the impact on patient care and professional practice.
“I have always felt it was incredibly important that patient quality of life was optimised for as long as possible and, as a dietitian, this meant supporting the patient's relationship with, and enjoyment of, food.
