ANSON FARM WILL MAKE WAY FOR THE STEAKHOUSE
The Gazette
|May 09, 2025
A Thornaby pub earmarked for closure this summer is to be transformed into a Hickory’s Smokehouse.
Anson Farm, in Teesside Industrial Estate, is set to close in August, it has been announced. The closure of the Penny Avenue pub, which is operated by Farmhouse Inns, will make way for the Southern-style steakhouse and is set to open in winter 2025.
It will be the firm's most northerly eatery, with a smokehouse opening in York late last year. Staff at Anson Farm have been notified of the planned closure in August and upcoming development.
Hickory’s is set to create 100 jobs in the region and will be recruiting for chefs, servers, bar tenders and managers, as well as supporting current team members, the firm has said.
