Ace delivers but Academy hold the winning cards

A FAULTLESS 15-point maximum from Ace Pijper was not enough to prevent Edinburgh Monarchs Academy completing a double and returning to Scotland with all three league points.

The Armadale outfit won the corresponding match in Scotland last month 48-42 and managed to come from behind as the Heat Floors Tigers were beset with minor problems.

Stene Pijper struggled with a cracked frame in his first two rides, while Kai Ward lost a seemingly certain 5-1 when coming to grief on the last lap of heat five.

Danny Phillips' bike threw a chain at the start of heat 11 and then Tom Spencer slid off on the opening lap of the penultimate race.
