I came by a very simple but profound post one evening while I was scrolling on Facebook: "Never hurt your mother.
-
"Not with words. Not with anger. Not with silence, She's the one person who loves you unconditionally. Love her. Care for her. Appreciate her with all your heart."
The message hit me hard, and made me think deeply about its true message - the context that compelled the person who posted it to post it.
But, I am thankful that the message was not for me. I never hit back on my late mother, Antonia Uy delos Reyes; no disrespect with words, nor actuations when I was under her care, through the remaining years of her life.
I loved and respected mother deeply in spite of her imperfections. I understood the pain that she went through, especially that she practically single-handedly raised us four siblings.
