He was regarded as one of the best executives in the NBA and in his four years with the Dallas Mavericks, he built a title contender around Luka Doncic, their franchise player.
In 2023, he made a risky move by acquiring Kyrie Irving but that came out well with a trip to the NBA Finals in 2024, losing to the Boston Celtics.
Last February, Nico Harisson shocked the basketball world when he dismantled a title contending team and dealt the 2019 Rookie of the Year to the LA Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie. The move was made without Luka ever asking or demanding a trade or hinting of leaving in free agency.
The given reason was that the team was unwilling to give Luka a 5-year max contract of $345 million because management thought their star player can't physically take care of his body and stay in top shape.
