The Gullas family is overcome with joy for keeping the legacy of Dr. Jose “Dodong” Rivera Gullas alive in the field of sports.
A legendary figure in Cebu basketball and a trailblazing sports leader, Dodong Gullas is also best remembered for establishing the Gullas Tennis Cup exactly three decades ago in 1995.
From its humble beginnings, the Gullas Cup rose to become the biggest and most sought-after junior tennis event in the VisMin region, producing dozens of elite netters and national champions as well over the years.
Its brightest products include Jacob Lagman, Fitzgerald Tabura, Sally Mae Siso, Oswaldo Dumoran, Francis Casey Niño Alcantara, and Norman Joseph Enriquez to name a few.
One of the most recognizable tournaments in the Philippine tennis calendar, the Gullas Cup has earned its much desired Group 1 status from the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA) in 2018.
